If you like to "play" safe; do not read this!
A real Archaeological Exploration Expedition is waiting! Deep in the Rain Forest of Guatemala the .jungle covers the remains of "A Great Civilization"! I'm not talking about one city; I am referring to City States. February 2012 (exact dates are still open for discussion) is the dry time of year in the Rain Forest and an excellent time to travel through it. Pre classic Maya had erected great cities by as early as 600BC Come with me on a "trek" to see the ancient world of the Maya. This Trek will be led by an actual member of the original "Sacbe" discovery team. Sakbej, (plural sakbejo'ob) in Maya, is basically a straight white road from City to City, an ancient expressway! This term "Sakbej" has meaning to the physical road (white road) as well as to the metaphysical road (White Way). This and many other things will be discussed in length. And yes, we will explore the concepts and facts about December 21 2012!
**This will be an actual 10 days on the trail, "walking" through one of the last Great Rain Forest of our Hemisphere. Our gear will be carried by mules but "we walk"! (Walk and carry weight as needed) This is and will be a "very physically" and definitely a very "mentally" challenging trip. Let me make it clear, "This is not a Museum style trip!! This is the real deal "Jungle" trek! National Geo has not even done the route we will do! We will actually be route finding on some portions of this trip. "Anything" can happen and probably "will"!!! If this type of "extreme" adventure excites you then this trip is for You! Parts of the route we will be "hacking" have not been walked for maybe 2200 years or longer.
Names of pre-classic sites we will see and you can Google: Xulnal, Tintal, Naranjita, El Mirador, Nakbe, La Muralla, Wakna, La Florida (many, many more sites besides these may be explored.) Adventure Travel is all about expecting, accepting and managing risk! Travel Responsibly!
